It's been you all along!

Hi Reader -

It might not feel like it's been six weeks since our last chat, but on the Friday following my last newsletter, I had a scheduled hysterectomy and have spent the last few weeks recovering and easing my way back into the world. Perhaps that's TMI, but in this space we get to show up as our full selves and discuss all the things - even (and maybe especially) the things we don't always discuss publicly.

In the time that I've sat with my thoughts a lightbulb came on and now the whole room feels brighter!

Number A. Let's start with The Quiet Rebel as a brand.

Since 2019, Tracie Jae and The Quiet Rebel have been used interchangeably. And while the company name was certainly built around my personality, over the years it has come to mean more than that. A Quiet Rebel is someone who notices problems and possibilities in their organization or community and uses their proximate influence to make a difference.

Letter 2. Who's in the room?!

Since 2021, I have been teaching and sharing A More HUMAN Approach - a shareable, repeatable decision making practice. I've been actively promoting it as a tool for leaders and their teams. AND in true entrepreneur fashion, I have been so consumed with trying to get "the right people" in the room that I almost overlooked who is already in the room.

You all are the real quiet rebels - who have been riding with me since 2019. And I hear you saying - we're with you TJae - where're WE goin'?? Apparently, we're going wherever we already are.

So - C - Here's the deal.

Quiet Rebels aren't silent.
We don't need the microphone.
We don't need to be the highest-ranking person in the room.
We understand proximity.

Who is nearest to me? What can I influence from where I sit? What question can I ask? What can I move? Who is the next available ear?

I think we're at 4 now.

In every room. At every table.
Make more HUMAN decisions.
Ask better questions.
Notice what isn't being noticed.
And when you see something that needs to move, start with the next available ear.

I've opened opportunities for us to practice together. Beginning next Thursday, October 15th and for the next few Thursdays, I'll be hosting a virtual pay-what-you-want Decision Practice Lab. This is space to bring one persistent challenge facing your organization or community and apply A More HUMAN Approach. I'll be there as a guide and sounding board and also, it's space to be with other humans who are working their way to the other side, too.

For those who want to go even deeper and scaffold the skills to be proficient in making more HUMAN decisions, I invite you to join us for the January Circle of Seven. Yes, it comes with a steeper investment. It also comes with sharpened tools and an approach you can use in your personal and professional situations.

Let's see how much difference we can make together if we're all changing the space closest to us.

Community Learning Opportunity: Circle of Seven

Circle of Seven is a seven-session leadership learning community designed to strengthen decision-making through shared practice, reflection, and peer learning.

Six leaders gather with a facilitator to explore the capabilities that support honesty, urgency, meaningfulness, accountability, and nuance. Participants bring real decisions, challenges, and questions into the experience as they develop a repeatable, shareable practice they can carry into their teams and organizations.

One additional ask. Please share this information with the Quiet Rebels around you.

Stay Curious

Stay Curious is a not-so-standard deck of playing cards. Each card also has a conversation starter question.

Thanks to everyone who has already grabbed your deck of cards. I'd love to hear how your conversations shifted.

We're in Election Season. Democracy is an inside job. Let's all show up!

LOVE first. Always.

In case you're new to Tuesdays w/ TJae, you should know that you won't receive emails from me every Tuesday, or on any particular Tuesday - but always (well, normally) on a Tuesday. As a child, whenever we'd visit my Grandpa James, he'd end the visit by saying "See you Tuesday," no matter when we were scheduled to see him again. So this newsletter is part nod to James Rivers, and part nod to my love of alliteration.

See you Tuesday!

The Quiet Rebel 08.18.26 Tuesdays w/TJae: If it ain't broke. . . Share this, and previous newsletters. ↓ Hi Reader - If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But what if you didn't know it was broke? I've spent an inordinate amount of time thinking about the word belonging. It's a word people use often and with good intention, especially in conversations about workplaces and communities. We want people to feel like they belong. We want to create a sense of belonging. We want people to know they...

The Quiet Rebel 08.11.26 Tuesdays w/TJae: The Water Receded Share this, and previous newsletters. ↓ Hi Reader - The New York Times shared a reel describing ships emerging from the Danube River in Serbia, and the caption disturbed my spirit. Extreme heat has lowered the river enough to expose ships that have been submerged there since World War II. The heat didn't put them there. It just lowered the water enough for people to see what had been there all along. Sometimes heat gets blamed for...

The Quiet Rebel 08.04.26 Tuesdays w/TJae: Sometimes You're a Plant. Sometimes You're a Weed. Share this, and previous newsletters. ↓ Hi Reader - Happy August. Yep . . . you heard correctly - August. IKR?! When? How? Saturday, Layle (one half of my BFF sandwich) and I were standing in my backyard, looking at everything growing back there. Issa lot, y'all! I said most of it looked like weeds to me. She asked, “What’s the difference between a plant and a weed?” Well. . . according to the...
